TIRANA, Sept. 24 – Airline company ‘Adria Airways,’ operating in Albania  through direct flights to Ljubljana and Frankfurt, announced before midnight on September 23 “the temporary halt of scheduled flights on September 24 and 25.”

The airline has been facing financial issues for some time, Civil Aviation Authority reports.

Flights from Tirana to Frankfurt at 12:20 p.m. and from Tirana to Ljubljana at 14:35 p.m. were cancelled today along with return flights to Tirana from Frankfurt.

The official announcement states that “as from 23:30 (LT) on September 23, 2019, it will temporarily (on Tuesday, 24 September and Wednesday, 25 September) cease the majority of its flight operations.”

The decision comes as a result of the insufficient financial resources the airline needed to carry on with its flight operations.

“The company is at this point intensively searching for solutions in cooperation with a potential investor. The goal of everyone involved is to make Adria Airways fly again,” the company stated.

The official announcement also includes instructions for the passengers who were scheduled to fly with the airline, by advising them to “check who their carrier is before they arrive at the airport and if it is Adria Airways then they should contact sales offices where tickets were purchased.”

On their official website, ‘Adria Airways’ tells its passengers and partners to follow the online updates.

According to the CAA, ‘Adria Airways’ accounted for 4 percent of the shares in Rinas Airport flights market throughout the month of August.
