VLORA, Sept. 5 – Pollution in the city of Vlora is much more than the normal standards, something that would affect the people’s health, environmental officials said Tuesday. Levels of pollution in Vlora are higher than those required in the country and in the European Union, according to Niko Dumani of the regional office of environment. Those levels are double those required in the EU member countries. Those factor affecting such a pollution were construction, remnants they throw away as the main ones. Many of these materials are thrown at the Pylli i Sodes turning it into a big whole that also has its impact on the city. The low quality of cleaning streets was considered as another negative factor. The great number of vehicles in the city and taking into consideration that almost all of them are second-hand, and the level of fuel they use becomes an important factor.
