Albania auctions 16.3 mln euro of 3-mo T-Bills

TIRANA, Aug. 22 – Central Bank of Albania auctioned Tuesday two billion leks ($21.1 million/16.3 million euro) in three-month treasury bills, the bank said. The government securities offered by the Finance Ministry mature on November 23. Albania’s three-month T-bills yielded an average 5.26% at the last auction held last week, down from 5.44% in the previous auction, held a week earlier. The central bank auctions lek-denominated three-month T-bills weekly, usually on Tuesdays, and six- and 12-month T-bills twice a month, also on Tuesdays. The Bank of Albania, which sells the government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry, has auctioned off T-bills worth 286.29 billion leks in par value since the beginning of the year. Last year, it auctioned off 465.2 billion leks worth of government securities.
