TIRANA, March 2 – Both Albania and Croatia are determined to further intensify their military relations, now as NATO members, which they became two years ago.
Croatia’s Defense Minister Davor Bozinovic met with Albanian Ambassador in Zagreb Pellumb Qazimi to discuss on so far successful bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional cooperation within the A-5 initiative has been confirmed.
Bozinovic is new in the duty. Qazimi has been the army’s chief of staff before taking the diplomatic post.
They discussed on intensifying cooperation with regard to further involvement in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan and the possibilities of cooperation in the defense industry, where the Albanian side highlighted the interest for presentation of products of the Croatian military industry in Albania, and also for Albanian experts to visit Croatian companies producers of military equipment and weaponry.
“Since the project of new uniforms for members of the Albanian Armed Forces is currently under preparation, we are interested in sharing experiences in this area, but in other areas of equipping as well,” Qazimi said.
Albanian Defense Minister Arben Imami is expected to take part at the forthcoming exhibition and conference of military equipment and arms producers in Split at the end of March.
