TIRANA, Nov 24 – Albania will strongly support Kosovar’s stand on the installation of the European mission in Kosova, Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha said.
“I could first say that Tirana stands, and shall always stand, on Prishtina’s side. We shall vigorously support, without any reservation, hesitation and in the fullest imaginable way the Prishtina authorities, as the only legitimate authorities for such decisions, both for this process or for any other process related to the thorough implementation of Ahtisaari Package throughout Kosovo’s territory,” said Basha in an interview to Kosova media.
He said that Tirana fully supports “the constantly expressed will of the highest authorities in Prishtina for their engagement into a constructive dialogue with the international community and we do also support their widely expressed will for the deployment of EULEX all over Kosovo. The deployment of EULEX throughout Kosovo territory, as provided by the Ahtisaari Package is very important for peace, stability and security in Kosovo. Likewise, the compliance, without any hesitation and amendment of the Ahtisaari Package is of crucial significance for peace, stability and security in Kosovo and all over our region.”
He also said that Albania was convinced that “the presentation of plans to partition Kosovo on an ethnic basis and the work to build parallel bodies infringes on the territorial integrity of the independent state of Kosovo and represents a serious threat for peace, stability and security, not only in Kosovo but in the whole region. In this regard, I have to reiterate our full support for the moderation, maturity and determination with which the authorities of Prishtina are tackling this issue and the support for the deployment of EULEX all over Kosovo’s territory.”
