TIRANA, Jan. 9 – Albania and Kosovo will hold their first joint cabinet meeting Saturday in an efforts to boost ties.
Ahead of the meeting, media reported that in a joint decision, both governments will allocate a funding for some public spending in the Preshevo Valley, an area of southern Serbia inhabited by ethnic Albanians.
The two cabinets, holding their meeting in Prizren, will also sign key agreements on trade and transportation cooperation.
Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has said “the two premiers will sign the strategic partnership declaration.”
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has said this meeting will push and launch a new era of cooperation between the two governments, which share the same challenge of modernization and integration into EU.
“The two governments will build common strategic approaches to raise new economic, social and cultural prospects for our citizens,” Rama said. Tirana has also said it will continue to hold such meeting with other countries seen as strategic partners.
