TIRANA, May 8 – Kosovo and Presevo Valley Albanians no longer need work permits to be able to work in Albania. Government has lifted work permit requirements for Kosovo and Presevo Valley ethnic Albanian in a bid to open up the Albanian market and reduce bureaucracies.
“With this decision, the Albanian government positively responded to a request made by representatives of student associations from the Presevo Valley studying in Tirana, giving an end to the bureaucratic process of applying for work permits or the employment quota for foreigners in Albania,” said Social Welfare and Youth Minister Erion Veliaj this week.
“I know that critics say there are not enough jobs even for Albanians, not to mention Kosovo and Presevo citizens, but I would like to inform that 80 percent of requests for work permits in Albania are made by businessmen,” added Veliaj.
