TIRANA, Feb 23 – Albania’s top policeman Ahmet Prenci was pleased that the latest report of the UN Office had acknowledged Albania’s achievements in the fight against illicit drugs.
While visiting the tiny Balkan country recently Italian and British authorities have hailed positive results in stopping many efforts of drug trafficking to Western Europe.
Prenci considered the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report as the most positive assessment of Albania’s achievements in the fight against trafficking drugs.
“The report confirms that from 2007 Albania is no longer a transit route for drugs and since then the traditional route for drugs has been through the Northern Balkans, Turkey-Bulgaria, Romania-Hungary,” he said at a news conference.
Prenci reassured that Albanian police were totally committed to combating illegal drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
