Albania takes over SEEBRIG Commandership

TIRANA, July 20 – Albania took over the command of the SEEBRIG at a handover ceremony held in Istanbul, Turkey.
In compliance with MPFSEE Agreement, the chairman of SEDM-CC & PMSC as well as the Commander of SEEBRIG are appointed for a period of two years and the positions are rotated among parties.
Romanian Brig. Gen. Virgil Balaceanu passed the command of SEEBRIG to Brig. Gen. Zyber Dushku.

SEEBRIG headquarters is located in Istanbul, Turkey for the period of 2007-2011. SEEBRIG has conducted two exercises, participated in four exercises, had more than 25 visits at the headquarters or to other international / national military and political organizations and also had evaluation visits to the allocated units.
Political and high military representatives from MPFSEE countries, NATO and other international organizations, Host Nation High Ranking officials, local authorities, other delegates took part at the ceremony last week.
Albanian Defense Minister Gazmend Oketa was also present at the ceremony.
The minister also met with his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Vecdi Gonul to talk on bilateral relations in the military field.
Turkey has paid special attention to help Albania’s military in its education, health and logistic support.
