Events in Ukraine dominate discussion at Southeast European Cooperation Process in Bucharest.
BUCHAREST, May 11 – Albanian Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta took part at a meeting of the parliamentary delegations of the Southeast European Cooperation Process member states held in Bucharest, Romania where Tirana took over its presidency or chairmanship-in-office for one year.
The focus at the meeting was on the situation in Ukraine, on which the participants also issued a joint statement.
The SEECP member countries are Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro and Slovenia.
The SEECP was launched on Bulgaria’s initiative in 1996 urging the Southeast Europe countries’ regional cooperation for creating an atmosphere of trust, good neighborly relations and stability.
The basic goals of regional cooperation within SEECP include the strengthening of security and the political situation, intensification of economic relations and co-operation in the areas of human resources, democracy, justice, and battle against illegal activities.
