Albania thanks U.S. for NATO membership assistance

TIRANA, Aug 12 – Albanian Foreign Minister, Lulzim Basha, thanked Jason Hyland, U.S. Department of State senior official for central and southern Europe, for Washington’s strong support in Albania’s integration efforts into NATO and other assistance in general in the euro-Atlantic integration efforts. Basha also assured Hyland of the Tirana executive’s total commitment to complete the required standards for full membership.
Albania received a NATO membership invitation at its last summit in Bucharest and hopes to become a full member next year.
The two officials also discussed developments in Kosova and its importance to regional stability. (Tirana Times Staff)
