TIRANA, Feb. 23 – Albania will host in September thousands of religious faithful from across the world in the third summit of its kind aimed to promote global religious harmony and peace.
The meeting Sept. 6-8 will host up to 5,000 faithful from all over the world, according to Social Affairs Minister Erjon Veliaj.
The meeting is hold a year after Pope Francis came to Albania to hold his first visit to a European country and promote the tiny western Balkan country as a place of inter0-religious tolerance and coexistence.
The meeting will be organized by the Sant’ Egidio Community, whose leaders have come to Tirana this week to meet with all top leaders and discuss on the upcoming meeting.
The Sant’ Egidio leaders said that they had chosen Albania as an example of coexistence that Europe and the world should follow.
