TIRANA, June 15 – A US federal court charged Albano Xhixha, 21, a native of Albania who was recently naturalized as a U.S. citizen, based in Chicago, with selling tens of thousands of dollars worth of high-grade marijuana in monthly transactions over the past year.
Xhixha appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Crocker on Tuesday and was ordered to be kept in jail.
An informant said Xhixha portrayed himself as being involved in an organized crime group or family, instructing the informant to “keep your mouth shut and get an attorney” if busted, warning that failing to do so would mean getting hurt by his “brothers.” Xhixha also said that his marijuana sources were from Europe and were “old school.”
