TIRANA, Nov 17 – Adrian Mertiraj, 41, was extradited from the Netherlands to be under detention in his homeland charged with organizing a prostitution ring.
Mertiraj is still to go on trial.
In 2004 he had known a woman offering her to take her to Germany. He managed to secure the visa for the lady and took her to Germany where she was forced to prostitute. He also physically hurt her when she declined to do that.
She was forced to serve as a prostitute further on. She was taken to hospital in 2007 after being severely beaten by him. A Kosovar helped bring her back to Albania where she indicted Mertiraj.
The man was arrested a year ago in the Netherlands and following extradition papers he was brought to Tirana to be taken to trial.
