Albanian gang arrested in Spain

ALMERIA, Spain, May 31 – In an operation codenamed SAPO, Guardia Civil have arrested five Albanians charged with more than 20 robberies in companies and homes in Alicante, Murcia, Almeria and Granada. They have also charged four other people for covering up for the gang.
The investigation began late last year when the Guardia Civil learned of the existence of an active organized gang. The gang had settled in the areas of Torrevieja and Orihuela, where they pretended to be night watchman at the companies they intended to target.
The detainees have criminal records for more than 100 crimes and were arrested on a road near Alicante when they had been checking out a warehouse as their next target.
When their homes were searched police found tools, electrical equipment, computers, documents, money, TVs, jewellery and other goods.
