TIRANA, Sept. 8 – Albanian and British military units are holding joint military exercises in Albania.
The exercise will be held in two stages: “Albanian Lion ’14” during Aug. 30 – Sept. 16 and “Dragon Hammer ’14” during Sept. 16 – Oct. 17, 2014.
The exercise will focus on evacuation of the civilians, “Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations,” through marine, land and air operations.
Some 600 troops will take part at the exercise that is to be held in the military basis in Biz묠Zall-Herr, Kepi i Palit, Ku谶묠Pashaliman and Porto Palermo. Four ships will support them. Gen-Maj Zyber Dushku of the Albanian infantry considered the exercise very important in the exchange of experience and guaranteed that the tiny western Balkan country’s army would put at its disposal all the necessary infrastructure.
This is the fourth series of the Albanian Lion annual exercises held in Albania.
British Ambassador to Tirana Nicholas Cannon also thanked Tirana for its contribution for the security steps in the world, referring to the recent donation of ammunition and weaponry to the Iraqi Kurds to fight against terrorist groups there.
