TIRANA, March 23ccording to a study from international experts, Albanian underground has petrol resources of up to 5 billion barrels. That is 2.5 times more than what it was previously thought. However, the new statistics don’t show much hope in terms of possibilities of extracting all this wealth from the underground. Expert evaluate that only some percent of the potential petrol may be extracted with the current technology.
In terms of real resources (extracting petrol by cost effective means) Albania accounts for only 220 Mln barrels. It is 30 Mln more barrels than the estimates from 2008, which translates into extra hundreds of millions of dollars.
