TIRANA, June 2 – A Greek newspaper reported that a young Albanian immigrant was in critical condition in an Ioannina hospital after being shot on Saturday night while trying to cross into Greece from Albania with other would-be migrants.
Police said the shot was probably fired by a member of a drug-smuggling ring who spotted flashlights being used by the migrants and mistook them for police officers, according to Kathimerini daily.
Officers said the attacker had used a Tokarev pistol, widely used by the Albanian drug mafia.
