Arrested Italian released

TIRANA, Oct. 15 – An Italian citizen arrested and jailed for the last year for refusing to tell officials about a crime he had witnessed was released Monday. The court in Kavaja released Italian businessman Marcello Casavola, 62, following intensive diplomatic activity by the Italian embassy in Tirana and its new ambassador, Saba d’Elia.
Casavola was allegedly present during a murder in July 1998. Casavola was arrested after being found in the car of the victim.
