TIRANA, Aug. 26 – The AS@N network group held a meeting titled “Internship 2006 – Return & Employment” in an effort to attract thousands of Albanian students who graduate abroad but do not return to work back in their country. The group said that there are some 25,000 Albanian students studying abroad and polls have shown that only five percent of them aim to return and work in their country. Brain drain may consider significant damage to the country’s future, according to the group. Though not aiming to bring them all back the network aimed at investing at the ‘brain circulation’ group, as they called it. The group offers internships to many of these students in an effort to attract and persuade them to work in their won country. They offered internships for 211 students to work at the administration of different ministries, or private business. The students were offered 50 euros for two weeks or 100 euros for one month work. The project was extended to September for 34 more students.
