TIRANA, Dec. 1 – Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha took part last weekend in the ministerial meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe held in the Spanish capital Madrid.
Besides topics covering Albania during the talks with counterparts, the minister also paid special attention to the Kosova status process.
Basha repeated Tirana’s stand on speeding efforts and applying the proposal made by former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari as a special U.N. envoy for an internationally supervised independence “in order not to threaten Kosovo’s security and that of the region.”
Basha said that any delay of the status process would “strengthen radicals and weaken the moderates.”
He said it was not the problem of Kosova’s independence but Serbia’s independence from Kosova and its (Belgrade) European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
