TIRANA, June 20 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha repeated Monday the idea of voting electronically all around the country.
In the Democratic Parliamentary group meeting, Berisha said that electronic voting and counting would be a sensible solution in Albania.
He said that his cabinet was ready to deploy the most secure electronic system in all polling stations around the country.
Berisha also invited the opposition to make its amendments within the electoral reform and send them to the Venice Commission and OSCE-ODIHR to be considered before being passed at the parliament.
Albania already has electronic counting systems, but in the recent local elections this asset seemed useless. The political deadlock is focused now on the counting process in the capital.
Rather than relying solely on technology, the Albanian political parties but put in much effort to improving transparency and legitimacy as well.
