TIRANA, Nov. 8 – The Interior Ministry says any Albanian wanting to get a biometric passport fast, can now have it in 2 or 3 days, but at a higher price, from 6,000 leks it goes up to 15,000 leks.
The ministry reported that the Aleat company in charge of the passport printing has agreed to do that at a time when many Albanians are looking to have it faster and use when the visas are abolished by mid-December.
Until now the passport is issued and printed in three weeks and recently it has gone to 26 days due to the increase of applications
Albanians can enjoy the visa-free travel only if they have the new biometric passport.
Authorities started to issue it in Spring last year and now they say that more than one million Albanians already have a bio passport.
