TIRANA, March 22 – Albania’s Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati made a visit to Croatia last week in an effort to increase the support his country needs ahead of the June decision on its EU candidate status.
Bushati also took part at the opening of the photographic exhibition titled “Albania-Croatia: a common future.”
The Albanian minister praised bilateral ties as excellent and said that the future of both Balkan countries remained with the western international community.
Albania and Croatia both joined NATO in 2009.
Meanwhile Zagreb has already become an EU member last year while Albania has many steps to go to achieve full membership.
“The message of this photographic exhibition — the common future of Albania and Croatia is the main message of my visit to Croatia,” said Bushati.
The exhibition introduced pictures from an Albanian artist, Alket Islami, and his Croatian counterpart, Nenad Rebersak, which showed how close the two Adriatic countries were through pictures of nature and the coast.
Bushati also met with representatives of the Albanian community in Croatia, explaining latest developments in Albania and its efforts to protect the rights of Albanians in the region.
