TIRANA, May 19 – An association of businessmen have announced they oppose the new draft on bankruptcy prepared by the parliament.
Konfindustria expressed its concern for the way lawmakers introduced the law, saying Parliament needs broader consultation on such important laws. The group said they had opposed the draft for ten months, a move that was generally accepted by the lawmakers at the parliamentary commission. However, the law was, nonetheless, later approved. The draft has been rejected by the country’s president and is being reconsidered by the parliament.
The rejection of the bill was also supported Monday by opposition Socialist party leader, Edi Rama, but strongly opposed by governing Democratic Party leader and Prime Minister Sali Berisha. (Tirana Times Staff)
