TIRANA, Oct.17 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha on Tuesday told a meeting of the parliamentary group of the governing Democratic Party that the 2007 budget would be one of the main topics to be debated in the parliament. The 2007 budget covers some latest government initiatives to fight poverty. The premier considered as the most positive feature of the new budget “its social human face.” The increase in the budgeted salaries will be 17 percent, a slight change from the previously declared 20 percent. A 2 percent of the GDP spending will be dedicated to national defense and military expenses. This decision is part of the larger NATO integration efforts.
