TIRANA, July 5 – Albania’s Central Elections Commission has rejected a request by the Party for Justice, Integrity and Unity for a recount, which means, Shpetim Idrizi, the party leader, will not be part of the new parliament.

The PJIU representatives at the CEC asked the body to postpone the Tirana result announcement for 48 hours, to verify results counting through video footage, but CEC rejected the request.

Mesila Doda, a former PJIU lawmaker, said that the Tirana result would have given Idrizi a seat if a recount through reviewing the footage would have taken the place.

PJIU says it will appeal the decision. According to the official count the party, which mostly represents the Cham community, failed to get a seat by less than 40 votes, because it did not reach 3 percent of voters.
