TIRANA, April 19 – The electricity distribution operator, CEZ Shperndarje, announced on Tuesday the launch of the e-bill service, allowing every client to check online and print their monthly invoice.
Through this service, the client can also monitor monthly consumption, print invoices and review the six previous monthly invoices. The new service is expected to ease things both for CEZ and customers following difficulty to send bills in time also because of the inaccurate address system.
CEZ officials warned the debts state and private companies owed to the company remained at high rates also admitting the high number of monthly complaints of overcharging.
Ales Konrad, CEZ’s sales director said that consumers owed the company 32 billion lek as of January 1, 2007 when former OSSH was taken over by CEZ. “I am sorry to mention it but the biggest debtors are public institutions, budgetary or non-budgetary,” added the company official, worried that the high amounts of debts were spoiling the company’s plans for investments.
The Energy Regulatory Entity said in its 2010 report the electricity distribution operator, run by Czech Republic’s CEZ, has not been fair with consumers issuing arbitrary bills and overcharging consumers.
However, CEZ dismissed accusation of poor management and arbitrariness with bills by the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) in its annual 2010 report, saying that CEZ Shperndarje has done its best despite having no legal protection to prevent the massive energy thefts.
Government has announced it intends to pardon 380 million dollars in unpaid electricity bills from 1992 to 2006 just before CEZ acquired former state-run distribution operator OSSH.
