TIRANA, June 2 – The Administrative Court rejected a request for reinstatement by former governor Ardian Fullani on Thursday, ruling that the claim exceeded time limits.
The court, however, ordered Bank of Albania to pay its former chief 12 wages for wrongful dismissal.
It also ruled against a compensation claim of €102,000 for moral damages filed by Fullani.
After the verdict, his lawyer said that the former central bank governor will appeal the decision.
“We will insist for moral damages and reinstatement at the administrative court of appeals,” Fullani’s lawyer told Top Channel.
In his lawsuit, Fullani was requesting 50 wages for his entire term as governor, set to expire in 2018, besides compensation for moral damages and reinstatement.
The former central bank governor was arrested in September 2014 on abuse of office charges following the theft of five million euros from the bank vault.
He was later acquitted of all charges, despite the prosecutor’s request for a five-year prison sentence.
Prior to his discharge in 2014, Fullani had held the position of Bank of Albania governor for nine years, while his second term as governor was set to expire in 2018.
