TIRANA, Oct. 5 – Following two years of training and funding from European Union member countries the Albanian domestic auditing office will have 20 experts who will fight to keep public spending under control. The office plays an important role in checking the management of public funding. The government claims that it has significantly increased the public transparency. Finance Minister Ridvan Bode said that during the first half this year the auditing office had found out an abuse of 1.7 billion leks, or 300 million leks more than the same period in 2005, misused or abused from different public institutions.
