EBRD funds Fier bypass project

TIRANA, April 20 – The Government of Albania intends using the proceeds of a loan in the amount of EUR 60 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance the construction of the Fier bypass road in south-west Albania. The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EUR 75 million including taxes, will require the procurement of the following works and services:
The civil works associated with the construction of a 22km dual carriageway bypass road between the cities of Fier and Levan linking the Lushnje-Fier road section in the north and the Levan-Vlore and Levan – Tepelena road sections in the south of Albania that are under construction.
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2011.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of the EBRD and EIB loans will be subject to the EBRD’s Procurement Policies and Rules (May 2009) and will be open to firms from any country.
