TIRANA, Nov. 28 – As a result of the upcoming implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy has already started to implement anti-dumping measures to protect domestic production according to the proper legal framework. The latter is the most crucial step in ensuring the correct implementation of European standards in the field. Hence, the legal package that is supposed to cover all anti-dumping measures is expected to be complete by the end of next year. It will include the law packages “For the prevention of unfair international trade and Anti-dumping,” “Antidumping and Counterbalancing Measures,” “Protection measures regarding imports,” etc. The Ministry is aware that the business sector has a vital interest in these legal frameworks and in the changes that SAA will bring. Thus it plans to organize several national trainings, seminars and conferences to inform this sector abort antidumping measures and their featuring aspects. The Antidumping sector is a working directory under the Market Monitoring branch of the Economy Ministry. Its aim is to protect domestic industry from damages, threats and obstacles that come as a result of unfair and uncontrolled international trade. Such damages can be caused by import dumping techniques, subsidized imports or large-volume products that can overwhelm the market.
