It’s a new parliamentary season in Albania, but the same old story of deep political divisions continues. And in the process, it is creating a negative climate that focuses on narrow interests of the elite, and places public interest in the back seat. The ruling Socialist Party has again expressed its determination to move forward with plans to override presidential vetoes on controversial laws like the one that would see the old National Theatre Building demolished and replaced with a complex built under a public-private partnership.
