TIRANA, Oct. 9 – The European Union last week launched a 2-million-euro project to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Albania in collaboration with the country’s government.
The project foresees that more than 120 enterprises will be supported over the next three years under a program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
It aims to help the SMEs’ competitiveness, innovation capacity, investment-catching ability, as well as business and operation know-how, including quality management, strategy planning, marketing, exports and energy efficiency, among others.
The head of the EU mission to Albania, Romana Vlahutin, said the EU had long assisted the promotion of Albania’s economic development.
The program is part of an ongoing commitment from the EBRD and the EU to supporting SME development in Albania.
The EBRD so far has invested almost 1 billion euros (1.1 billion dollars) in some 70 projects in various sectors of Albania’s economy.
