TIRANA – Both U.S. Ambassador Alexander Arvizu and EU one Ettore Sequi hailed the launch of the new parliament’s session saying their governments fully support the country in its integration process into the European Union and also the development of its democracy.
“I think they are the same expectations that everybody in Albania has. A parliament which will work effectively, which should work having in mind that the European perspective of Albania is and should be a priority, a parliament where dialogue will prevail over confrontations, a parliament where respect will prevail over the heated discussions and, I think, a parliament which will be in a position to speed up the process of the European integration – a national priority. For this we need all the political actors. But I will go further, all Albania, all the civil society, all the public opinion, all the media should work together. I think that this is a very important day. I think we all could say that today is a historical day. I think it is because this parliament starts with a clear priority, which is the integration of Albania to Europe that hopefully will materialize soon,” said Sequi.
