TIRANA, May 19 – Water supply in the northern town of Peshkopia will improve thanks to a Euro 4 million soft loan by Unicredit Bank Austria.
The deal preceded a visit to Albania by Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
“The water supply project in your community is very important even as a sustainable project and we are always trying to implement such projects in the long-run,” said a representative of UniCredit Bank Austria.
The project is expected to provide a final solution to the water supply issue in Peshkopia after its scheduled completion in 18 months.
The water supply situation in Albania continues remaining critical. Data show water supply across Albania ranges from 4 to 24 hours/day with the average being at 11.5 hours in 2013, up from 10.8 hours/day in 2012 and 10.9 in 2011, according to a report Water Regulatory Entity.
