TIRANA, Aug. 08 – Fires have spread all around the country in these heat days.
Luckily there have been no victims among the people, though fires have gone close to many homes in the countryside.
The rough environment across the country has made it very hard for the firefighters to reach every area where there has been a fire. Firefighters have often turned to spades and other primitive ways to stop the spread of the fire in the forests and pastures. Authorities say that most of the fires were lit from casual incidence or accidents and only a few are considered to be set on purpose from people in the area to turn the area into a pasture or to be used for other goals. Authorities said that as of Wednesday there have been fires in the districts of Dibra, Elbasan, Gjirokastra, Saranda, Kukes, Tropoja, Korca, Kolonja, Lezha, Malesi e Madhe, Vlora, Delvina and other separate areas, covering tens of hectares.
Hundreds of hectares of forests and pastures have been damaged so far this summer.
