TIRANA, Aug 17 – Nard Ndoka, the former health minister fired from the cabinet in July and also the leader of the Christian Democratic party, said that the recent government reshuffle was made due to the Gerdec tragedy, the March 15 blast that killed 26 and injured 300 persons. He considered said he did not understand the violation of the political agreement his party had with the governing Democratic Party of Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Further, Ndoka accused the Democrats of the belief that all their supporters should be paid back with public posts. In a counter-attack, Ndoka said that his party would show its strength at the next general elections and also in local elections. He mentioned the party had increased its numbers by three times at the last local polls. “What happened, in the people’s language, is called infidelity, and that will come back as a boomerang to the Democratic Party,” he said.
He also threatened the Democrats that they will be paid back one day after their failed attempt to divide the Christian Democrats. Ndoka repeated that they could cooperate with the Democrats again in the future but only if the agreement was not similar to the last one. (Tirana Times Staff)
