TIRANA, Oct. 31 – Fatos Klosi, head of the secret intelligence service, Shish, from 1997 to 2002, was injured Tuesday morning in an attack Tuesday morning by a former secret policeman, Tirana police said. Anibal Basha, who had worked for Shish from 1992 to 1998, was arrested. He acknowledged the act saying he could not endure Klosi mention him in a case of Remzi Hoxha, an Albanian from Macedonia who has disappeared since ten years. Police said prosecutors were investigating the case. Basha is one of the witness of Hoxha case as well. Klosi is a professor of physics and is affiliated with the Socialist Movement for Integration, a small leftist party that separated from the main opposition Socialist Party some years ago. Klosi was advise from the doctor to stay calm at home. The attack was strongly condemned by all opposition political forces calling it a return to the old ways used from Prime Minister Sali Berisha during his term as president in 1992-97. they also directly accused Klosi’s predecessor in the secret police post, Bashkim Gazidede, who strongly turned it down. Klosi said that it is very likely that the attack was directly linked with Hoxha’s case which he had referred in the last days. Klosi said the attack was not casual but organized. On Wednesday Hoxha’s brother said that Basha had been following Hoxha for three months. While Ziso Kristopulli, the only witness for Hoxha’s alleged hijacking and then murder appealed for help from government authorities to protect him, claiming that he had been threatened to death lately.
