TIRANA, June 24 – Albanian election commissioners convened Thursday at a forum initiated by the Central Election Commission (CEC) with assistance of the OSCE Presence in Albania to exchange their experiences in administering the 2009 parliamentary elections, discuss challenges and come up with suggestions on how to further improve the technical aspects of election administration.
The event also serves to strengthen relations between the CEC and the mid-level commissions outside an election period.
Participants included around 50 chairs and deputy chairs of the Commissions of Electoral Administration Zones, representing more than one third of the total number of such commissions, as well as representatives of domestic organizations dealing with election matters.
The event is part of an OSCE Presence project aiming at assisting the CEC to improve election administration.
