German lawmakers visit Albania

TIRANA, Sep. 21 – A group of German lawmakers were in Tirana this week to meet with local officials. The meetings discussed Albania’s EU integration process and Albanian-German ties.
The German lawmakers where headed by Roderich Kiessewetter and held extensive talks with Albanian counterparts, Deputy Foreign Minister Selim Belortaja and Interior Minister Lulzim Basha.
Albania’s EU integration, the visa liberalization progress, recent development in the Western Balkans and Kosovo’s independence were some of the main topics of discussion.
The fight against organized crime, strengthening administrative capacities and the decentralization of the local power were other topics.
German lawmakers said they would aim to turn such a visit into an annual routine in order to further enhance the exchange of opinions and cooperation.
