TIRANA, Oct 22 – German Bundestag ratified Albania’s Stabilization and Association Agreement which the country had signed two years ago.
The SAA is the firs step of a country hoping to become one day a European Union member.
Only a few other EU member countries have remained to ratify it before the country may pass to the next stage of asking to be declared with the candidate status.
At the same time it was also learnt that Romania ratified Albania’s protocol with NATO it signed in July after first getting the NATO membership invitation in April.
With Romania the number of countries ratifying it raises to six but all 26 NATO member countries should do that before the country may ask for full membership.
