Giant Chinese developer considers investments in Albania

TIRANA, April 7 – One of China’s biggest companies, the China Pacific Construction Group, has expressed its interest to expand its investments in Albania’s road infrastructure and tourism.

Yan Jiehe, the company’s billionaire president who visited Albania this week, said he is considering in investing in regional infrastructure projects such as the Corridor 8, an east-west European road and rail network linking Albania, Italy, Macedonia Bulgaria.

“I have an emotional link to Albania which I want to transform into a financial link. The main focus is the Corridor 8. Since we are a private company, we are very competitive in the infrastructure market,” he told News 24 TV in an interview.

“I believe that by 2020 the company will be one of the main enterprises in this infrastructure. All we want is that the Albanian government is fair,” said Jiehe, who plans to make another visit to Albania and the region next summer.

One of the biggest developers in China, the Pacific Construction Group is specialized in national highways, municipal construction, water conservancy as well as other infrastructure construction and investment projects. The company was founded in 1995 and is based in Nanjing, China.
