Gjirokastra clean-up process

GJIROKASTRA, Nov. 25 – On Saturday, the local department of cultural monuments, the PACARD association and the town’s Red Cross started the clean-up process of the museum area in the southern city of Gjirokastra. It started with the streets damaged by the 1997 unrest. Gjirokastra is a UNESCO-protected world archaeological site for which the government has also allocated the spending of $1.2 million. After rehabilitating the shops, authorities intend to paint large frescoes and paintings on their walls.
