TIRANA, March 31 – Government approved on Wednesday several draft laws and important agreements, including the financing agreement with KfW on the construction of the southern power network, a 11 million euro investment.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha said the total investment reached about 70 million euro and that that reconstruction of the energy transmission system in southern Albania “was a great necessity, because the parameters, due to the distance, ‘suffer’ in the tourist area, although, fortunately, other energy resources are being built in the southern water resources, which will bring a good balance of energy system”.
Government also approved an agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on the re-allocation of funds to finance the “Integrated management of waters and ecosystems” project.
A draft law on the mining sector in Albania was also approved at the meeting.
Premier Berisha said that this draft law aims at setting this sector on a new basis and takes into consideration a very serious study that World Bank mining unit has carried out in the course of 2-3 years in Albania.
