TIRANA, April 15 – The central government decided Wednesday on a limit of 10 percent for all taxes set by local authorities.
The move was clearly linked to the ongoing political electoral campaign ahead of the June 28 elections, which was often repeated by Prime Minister Sali Berisha during his electoral trips around the country in the last month.
The government said the move was made to assist small businesses, but the opposition on the other side complained of violating the competencies of local authorities based on the decentralization law.
