The finance ministry said they were pardoning some 3.3 billion leks of fines set on many private businesses in an irregular way from the previous administration.
TIRANA, April 14 – The economy parliamentary commission on Monday pardoned fines set to businesses during the second quarter last year, which it said were used politically from the former executive against political opponents in the business.
The finance ministry said they were pardoning some 3.3 billion leks of fines set on many private businesses in an irregular way from the previous administration. They also said another half a billion leks of fines already paid would be returned to the businesses.
That has been one of the electoral pledges the leftist Socialists made.
The opposition Democrats were against the decision and the verdict at the commission was taken only with the votes of the ruling leftist coalition.
