Government threatens penalties if companies fail to respect contracts

TIRANA, Jan. 20 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha urged those construction companies involved in public works and road projects to honor the deadlines set in their contracts and deliver their finished products on time or face penalties.
The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications would inspect and re-examine all public works contracts and those construction companies which would be found not having met their deadlines would be penalized with revocation of their contract licenses.
Berisha also said that those companies respecting the contracts would receive incentives, adding that “however, if these companies will not respect deadlines and their contractual obligations, their licenses will be revoked because what they build is a social obligation.
