TIRANA, Oct. 8 – The new government of Prime Minister Edi Rama has taken two important decisions that will try to put discipline to territory management and protect archaeological sites in the country, a main source for tourism.
The government decided to block any new construction along the seaside and other important places like the historic towns of Kruja, Gjirokastra and Berat.
The government has said that it will destroy all illegally built construction along the seaside to give air to the development of a better tourism in the area.
In a show of force authorities blocked work at a 16-store building downtown capital Tirana, just in front of the government building, after finding no proper documentation for the building.
The government said that no new buildings would be seen in the three previously mentioned towns and also other new ones already built would be demolished.
Rama said that the new government would take concrete steps to protect the country’s historical and cultural wealth.
