TIRANA, Sept. 27 – Prime Minister Edi Rama made a visit to nearby Italy where he met with a group of businessmen in the north in an effort to bring more Italian investors in the country.
Rama held a meeting with businessmen covering manufacturing, tourism, energy, which he considered as areas in which Italian entrepreneurs can invest in Albania. Rama told them the general business environment in his country, referring to low taxes and less bureaucracy and good labor force.
“We have a very low taxation on businesses and a bureaucracy that does not exist and so this is the moment for Italian entrepreneurs to invest in Albania,” he told them.
During his stay Rama also met and talked with the local authorities, including the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Debora Serracchiani.
“We want to build strong and lasting relationships with this region,” Rama said. Italy is a key economic force in neighboring Albania, but the country has failed to attracte the largest investors from northern Italy so far, which is what the Albanian government is trying to change.
